Rust (1991). Postmodernism and Educational Research

"We also need to examine the extent
to which the new technology is liberating and the extent to which it is
related to exploitative commercial interests. We must explore how education
can break the bonds of the totalizing genius of capitalism, whose major
interest is to expand markets, capture the minds of potential consumers,
and invade the educational enterprise in the interests of economic advantage" Rust.

This citations make me think of facebook, twitter and all the social networks. I would be glad to find a concrete analysis of how information is affecting our lives. I can see that, in the presidential campaign that is currently taking place in Mexico, social networks are playing an important role. But how much of what happens over there is real? How many of the twitter accounts really represent a persons perspective, how many of the persons that write are being sincere, how many are just simulating? Can this persons being considered to represent diverse and plural belief systems? How this information era impacts the knowledge that students receive at class? Is the school structure obsolete? Is there a need for innovation? Is the era of listening and integrating multiple and diverse perspectives into the educational system? How are we going to do it if capitalist elites support the modern structure?
